You Can Change 1

These are my notes and some reflections on Tim Chester’s book: You Can Change.

This book is about hope – the hope we have in Jesus, the hope for forgiveness and change.

“We need a Redeemer to set us free and we have a Great Redeemer in Jesus.  This book points to Jesus and explains how faith in Jesus leads to change.” (p12)

One of our problems is that we think of holiness as giving up things we enjoy because we have an obligation to do that.  “But I’m convinced that holiness is always, always good news.  God calls us to the good life.  He’s always bigger and better than anything sin offers.” (p12-13)

Tim encourages us to work on a particular problem or concern in your life as you read the book.  The end of each chapter contains further questions and reflections exercises for groups or personal reflection.  The aim for anyone reading this book is to actually facilitate real change rather than merely reading about change.  This is why I have picked up this book at this time.
